How to Read Fentanyl Test Strips

Reading your test strip results is easy.

Check For Fentanyl

  • One line means that your drugs contain fentanyl and could be deadly
Example of a positive result: the drug contains fentanyl and an increased risk of death
  • Two lines means that your drugs do not contain fentanyl and you should proceed with caution.
Example of a negative result: no fentanyl detected

Remember, no drugs are 100% safe.

What Do I Do After I Get My Test Results?

  • If you have a positive test, it’s important to carry Naloxone with you and to use with someone who isn’t using at the same time as you. If you overdose, that person will be able to call 911 and give you Naloxone.
  • If you have a negative test, it’s important to proceed with caution. There are times that a drug is still mixed with fentanyl or other drugs and that the strips cannot pick up.
