The Greene County Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Planning along with the Agricultural and Farmland Protection Board (AFPB) has begun the mandated recertification process for Agricultural District 124 in accordance with the New York Agricultural Districts law.
During the recertification, also known as the ‘eight-year’ review, the Greene County AFPB will prepare a report concerning the nature and status of farming and farm resources within the district. Greene County Economic Development, Tourism and Planning and the AFPB will be partnering with Cornell Cooperative Extension of Columbia-Greene Counties to survey Ag District 124 farmers to collect information about their farm operations.
To streamline the process, the mandated annual and the eight-year review will occur simultaneously. The County will conduct a thirty-day comment and open enrollment period from October 1, 2019 through October 30, 2019, in place of the annual review period which is usually held September 1 to September 30. During this simultaneous review, the district can be modified with the addition as well as removal of parcels and other modifications as determined from the review.
A map of Greene County Agricultural District 124 is available for public inspection in the Greene County Clerk’s office, 411 Main Street, Catskill, as well with the Clerk of the Legislature.
