Greene County Announces Plans for Design and Construction of a New Criminal Justice Center

On December 15th, 2021, the Greene County Legislature released a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for Architectural and Engineering Services for the design and construction of a new Criminal Justice Center (CJC). The CJC is to be located behind the County Courthouse on the site of the former Jail Complex which was successfully demolished in Spring of 2021.

The building is intended to accommodate additional space for the Greene County Public Defender’s & District Attorney’s Offices, as well as the NYS Office of Court Administration.

This solicitation is the beginning of the process with the first task to evaluate the space needs of the building occupants and determine the size of the building.

Preliminary site evaluation and building pre-design plans envision a three story office building connected to the Courthouse via an elevated pedestrian walkway. The ground floor of the building would be constructed as a secure parking garage for building and court system occupants. The second and third floors would be constructed as Class A professional office space.

The preliminary project schedule anticipates selection of the Architectural Design team in March of 2022; Concept Design in May of 2022; Construction Documents and Bidding in August of 2022; Award of Contracts to prime contractors in November of 2022; with a 16 month construction schedule and final completion date by June of 2024.
