Postponed & Extended Deadlines

The health insurance marketplace will remain open until May 15.

The State Department of Financial Services will require New York State-regulated health insurers to waive cost-sharing, including deductibles, copayments and coinsurance, for in-network mental health services for New York’s frontline essential workers during COVID-19. DFS will also issue an emergency regulation to prohibit insurers from imposing cost-sharing for telehealth and in-person mental health services rendered by in-network providers on an outpatient basis to frontline essential workers eligible to be tested at one of the State’s drive through or walk in COVID-19 testing sites.

DMV Extension of Expiration Dates

• All driver licenses, learner permits, non-driver identification cards, and vehicle registrations scheduled to expire on or after March 1, 2020 are extended until further notice.

Tax Filing Extensions

• • Income Tax Filing Deadline Extended to July 15. The IRS urges taxpayers who are owed a refund to file as quickly as possible.
  • The filing period for sales and use taxes for the sales taxes on the quarterly period that ended February 29, 2020 are extended until May 19, 2020, as per NYS Executive Order 202.8

Election Postponements

• Any special election which was previously scheduled to occur on April 28, 2020 and rescheduled for June 23, 2020.
• Any school board elections and budget votes will be held on June 9th.
• Village elections are delayed until September 15th.

Suspension of foreclosures and evictions

• Mortgage payments for any person or business who is experiencing hardship due to the COVID-19 are delayed 90 days by NYS Executive Order 202.9.
